Mic Cheque Podcast: Website for a Kenyan Comedy Podcast

Mic Cheque Podcast
Project Overview: Mic Cheque Podcast is a Kenyan comedy/banter podcast with hosts Chaxy, Mariah and Mwass, releasing new episodes every Wednesday and Sunday. Rather than starting from a generic template, the whole site was built directly around the show’s existing brand identity: the sticker-style logo, the marigold-and-ink color language, and a retro-broadcast sensibility. The result is a website that feels like an extension of the show, not a stock podcast landing page.
Features
Real Photographed TVs
- Latest episode thumbnails are composited directly into cut-out photos of real vintage TVs, screen holes measured pixel-for-pixel
- Widescreen thumbnails letterbox naturally inside the 4:3 screens, like an old CRT showing modern content
Editorial Host Pages
- Each host’s own tagline treated as a real pull-quote, not shrunk into a generic bio paragraph
- Giant ghost numerals and tilted, taped photos give the page scale without adding new colors
Video Teaser With Sound Control
- Autoplaying muted clip with a custom on-brand mute toggle, transcoded to both WebM and MP4 so it plays correctly on Safari/iOS
Live Events & Merch
- Real Hangouts event listing with ticket link, and a custom 404 page styled as TV static (“Signal Lost”)

Impact
Instead of a generic podcast template, the show’s own sticker logo, color palette and comedic voice run through every page, right down to the 404 page and the cookie-adjacent copy.
